National recognition of our excellence in learning and teaching

The Learning and Teaching Performance Fund is an Australian Government initiative to recognize and support excellence in universities. Murdoch University is currently ranked as one of Australia’s top learning and teaching universities.

The purpose of the fund is to reward higher education providers that best demonstrate excellence in learning and teaching.
In 2008, we received funding of $1.7million from the 2008 Learning and Teaching Performance Fund [LTPF] based on our performance in measures of:

  • Student satisfaction
  • Student progress
  • Graduate outcomes

Murdoch is one of only 12 universities to have received funding through the LTPF in each of the three years since its commencement. Since 2006, Murdoch has received a total of $7.0 million from the LTPF.

Student satisfaction

In 2008, Murdoch has again scored very well in the national survey of graduate employment and satisfaction, the Australian Graduate Survey. The University received very high ratings from graduates on their experience at the university including the quality of teaching and their overall satisfaction. In addition, the university has significantly improved its placement of graduates.

As a result, Murdoch received a five-star rating from the Good Universities Guide for graduate satisfaction, the only university in Australia to achieve this honour for an extraordinary 13 times in 14 years, and was singled out for praise by the Good Universities Guide for its consistent performance in this field. We also received a four-star rating in graduate outcomes, demonstrating that Murdoch graduates are very attractive to prospective employers.

Overall, this clearly demonstrates that our focus on the educational experience is highly valued by our students.
